Industrial Visit (ICE CREAM FACTORY) By MBA Students

Apart from an exciting day out with colleagues and tasting sumptuous flavours of their favourite Ice-Creams, MBA Students of Poddar Management and Technical Campus got the opportunity to visit Dev Milk Foods Pvt Limited at Mahindra World City. Students observed strategic and operational aspects of Operations, Logistics, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Financial Management.

Industrial VisitOwner of Ice Cream & Bakery brand FruBon, Dev Milk Foods manufactures and markets ice creams, bakery products, milk and dairy products. Spread across 60,000 square feet, the manufacturing unit has state of the art plant design, layout and production processes.  Their mission is “to ensure the best food quality and flavour experience delivery to customers through innovation and superior manufacturing processes”.

Unit Head Mr. Ashok Sharma spoke with students regarding the company’s products, operations and marketing strategy.  He discussed company procedures and policies in operations of the unit. Students also gained valuable insights into project activities, marketing strategies, QA and QC measures, customer relationship management and management of costs by efficient financial management.

Mr. Rahul Sharma, Deputy Manager – Ice Cream Division, which also happened to be the favourite division among visitors, explained the intricacies of management in simple terms. He dealt with exploring market trends and identifying new opportunities, coordination with marketing team to implement operational plans for new product launches and working on inputs provided by senior management.

Students also interacted with Plant Manager Mr. Mohammad Shahid. He discussed managing integration of work Industrial Visitflow, compliance to all schedule for machines and facilities, providing customer services for both internal and external customers, negotiating between labor relations and performing regular appraisals and providing support to all facility activities and preparing profit plans.

MBA students raised pertinent questions not only regarding plant management but overall running of the business. Managers gave students practical tips and guidance based on theoretical frameworks and their vast experience.

A combination of rich taste, excitement of outdoor excursion and helpful management tips from a world-class facility made the trip very special. PMTC students expressed their gratitude to the hosts for a Fru-ly memorable visit.
